There are several ways of reaching Aysen region and the Carretera Austral - a flight to Balmaceda Airport near Coyhaique, Public Transpotation from Chile and From Argentina.
HOW TO GET TO CHILEAN PATAGONIA
To Futaleufu:
The nearby major town in Argentina is Esquel. It is located just 150 km south of El Bolson and 260 km South of Bariloche. It has frequent buses from any Argentine destination. It also has an airport with direct flights to and from Buenos Aires.
During high season (jan-march) there are daily buses from Esquel to Futaleufu (besides sundays), twice a day. In low season buses are twice a week - however there is an alternative: from Esquel a short bus ride to the last town before the border, Trevelin. From there you can take a Taxi to the border (about 25usd), and we can pick you up from there.
To Chile Chico:
From Argentina - Chile Chico is a border town located just 5km away from Argentine town Los Antiguos. There are frequent vans that can be taken either from the terminal or the main avenue in Los antiguos.
The terminal has frequent buses operated by several companies to and from all destinations in Argentine Patagonia, including El Chalten, El Calafate, Esquel, Bariloche etc.
From Puerto Montt there are buses that go via Osorno, cross the border to Bariloche, and all the way down to Futaleufu via Argentina.
Another way is a Bus or A direct Ferry from Pto. Montt to Chaiten, and another bus from Chaiten to Futaleufu.
Not far from the region's capital - Coyhaique, there is an airport named Balmaceda, with daily flights to and from Santiago. For additional charge we can pick you up and let you off at the Airport.
