Day 1:
We Start from Puerto Varas, and head south to Chaiten – on the way we will ride 3 ferries, along the Patagonian Fjords and ride through Pumalin Park.
Day 2:
In the morning, we do a short hike in the area or, if interested, hot springs. Then
We Leave from Chaiten on route 7 south, passing lake and Glaciar Yelcho, surrounded by majestic cliffs and lakes, up to Villa Santa Lucia.
We head south along the Palena River until Puerto Puyuhuapi, where we settle at the accommodation. After a brief break, we head to the Ventisquero Colgante, 'The Hanging Glaciar' in Nacional Park Queulat, for a short hike, (we can also take a boat ride). In the evening optional visit to the Hot springs on the shore of the Puyuhuapi Fjord, where we see, if lucky, the small black dolphines called Toninas.
Day 3:
We continue south on the Carretera Austral down to the Qeulat National Park again, this time we'll hike the Enchanted Forest. Along the hike we’ll see waterfalls, lagoons, valleys and glaciers, all inside a rich rain forest.
From there we head south on a paved road along the Rio Simpson National Reserve until Coyahique, the capital of the region.
Day 4:
We head south to the Cerro Castillo National Reserve. There we can horseback ride like the local cowboys in one of the most significant National Reserves in Chile, Cerro Castillo, and enjoy a local BBQ.
in the afternoon do a very short hike to the Cave of hands, a cave with prehistoric paintings dated to 11,000 BC.
From there we continue along route 7 (AKA Carretera Austral) untill Puerto Rio Tranquilo, a lovely village on the shores of General Carrera Lake and the banks of the Tranquilo River. We can now take a boat trip to visit the famous Marble Cathedral and Marble Caves. Beautiful vibrant blue caverns, partially submerged in the equally stunning turquoise waters of Carrera Lake.
Day 5:
We start the day by heading west into the Exploradores Valley, a 52 Km drive in one of the most colorful and spectacular spots in Patagonia.
We do a short hike to the view the Exploradores iceberg and mt. San Valentin, the highest peak in Patagonia. We head back to the village, from there we head south to Puerto Guadal there we can see the petrified sea shelves. And then to Puerto Bertrand where we can go Fly Fishing. From there we continue further south to see the confluence (joining) of Rio Neff and Rio Baker. From there we'll head along the Baker River to the Hidden Valley and to Cochrane.
Day 6:
We start our 130 km journey south to Caleta Tortel. Driving along the Baker River in one of the most remote and wild parts of the continent with changing views every 5 minutes!
When we reach Tortel, we Hike around the town to see the dozens of islands and canals surrounding it, and take a walk in a very surreal village. After a few hours in Tortel we head back to Cochrane preparing for the next day.
Day 7:
From Cochrane we drive east to Tamango Nacional Reserve. It has wild vegetation and exotic fauna in which you can find Chile's national emblem, The Huemul (The South Andean deer). From there we drive north to El-Maiten Junction, turn East on Route 265, along the General Carrera Lake to the Border town of Chile Chico, where the tour ends.
